MSc Tania Figueroa Delgado, Marine Biologist at the University of Magallanes, Punta Arenas, Chile. She is involved in studying marine ecosystems, particularly those in the cold waters of the Southern Ocean. Her research focuses on the study of benthic marine fauna and zooplankton (neuston), with a particular interest in species that play a crucial role in ecosystem functioning and biodiversity. Currently, she participates as a research assistant in two laboratories at the university: the Austral Biological Oceanography Laboratory and, more recently, the Laboratory of Algal Ecophysiology and Biotechnology.

After obtaining her degree as a Marine Biologist and gaining more work experience, Tania pursued postgraduate studies, specifically a Master’s in Science with a specialization in the Management and Conservation of Natural Resources in Sub-Antarctic Environments. Throughout her career, she has participated in various scientific expeditions, ranging from the Antarctic continent to the fjords and channels of the Chilean Patagonian region.

She is enthusiastic about joining this scientific cruise and looks forward to contributing her expertise while collaborating with fellow researchers in exploring and understanding Chilean marine ecosystems.
