Sherry Chou was born in Taiwan and moved to California with her family when she was 7. She studied physics and mathematics at the University of California, and then international education policy at Harvard University. After some years working with non-profits and Peace Corps, in 2010 Sherry joined the Oceanography Department at UH Manoa, where she is currently working on better understanding internal tides and associated nonlinear processes.
