My journey as a marine zoologist began with a Bachelor’s and Licentiate in Biological Sciences from the University of Mogi das Cruzes (2003). I then honed my expertise in Marine Zoology, with a specific focus on Cnidaria (sea anemones, corals, and jellyfish), through a Master’s (2006), Doctorate (2012), and Postdoctoral research (2013) in Zoology from the University of São Paulo (USP). In 2020, I achieved the “Livre-Docente” title from São Paulo State University (UNESP).

A significant part of my early career involved two years (2006-2008) at the Ocean Biogeographic Information System (OBIS), contributing to one of the world’s largest marine biodiversity databases. My research delves into the intricate details of cnidarian taxonomy, systematics, evolution, phylogeography, and life cycles, employing advanced techniques like DNA barcoding and eDNA. This work is crucial for understanding and preserving the diversity and ecology of marine organisms.

Since 2013, I have served as an Associate Professor at UNESP, Faculty of Sciences in Bauru, guiding postgraduate students in Biological Sciences and Biosciences. As a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow (Level 2) and an active editor and reviewer for prominent scientific publications and funding agencies, I am deeply committed to the scientific community. My multidisciplinary approach, blending traditional zoology with innovative molecular techniques, is driven by a passion for marine conservation and unraveling the complexities of biodiversity in a rapidly changing world.
