Renato Romano is a PhD candidate in Biological Oceanography at the Oceanographic Institute of the University of São Paulo (IO-USP), Brazil. His research focuses on the dispersal of microorganisms via marine bioaerosols, particularly investigating connections between the Southern Ocean and the Antarctic continent. He integrates field sampling, microbial ecology, and molecular approaches to understand ocean–atmosphere coupling and microbial biogeography. Renato has participated in Antarctic research campaigns and works with metagenomic and environmental data to study microbial distribution and adaptation in extreme environments.
