I am a South African marine scientist whose work focuses on understanding how ocean systems function, particularly the processes that regulate nutrients, phytoplankton productivity, and the marine nitrogen cycle. I completed my PhD in Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Cape Town in 2023, during which I developed a particular interest in trying to understand how phytoplankton influence large-scale ocean dynamics and global climate regulation. I have worked in multiple ocean regions, trying to understand how different phytoplankton groups respond to varying physical and chemical conditions, and how these responses may influence primary production, nutrient cycling, and the movement of carbon through different ocean ecosystems.
