I am an oceanographer who now works in the process recording space. My background was in large-scale ocean processes at the University of Southampton, followed by a PhD at the University of East Anglia using autonomous underwater platforms (specifically gliders) and high-resolution temperature measurements to investigate small-scale turbulent mixing in a variety of locations. Alongside all of this, I have also worked as a freelance AUV and ASV pilot for the University of East Anglia, supporting many deployments, both on deployment and through remote piloting across the globe. I now work at the University of Southampton supporting UK institutions through the Physical Sciences Data Infrastructure (PSDI) to implement electronic research notebooks, specifically in teaching laboratories, and have an interest in how process recording is done more broadly, especially trying to understand the flow from office- and lab-based work into fieldwork and what the return of that looks like for notes and data.
