Nicholas (Nick) is currently working towards a BSc Honours research degree with the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies Iat the University of Tasmania. He recently completed a BSc (Geophysics) at Curtin University in Perth, Australia as well. While working on his degree, Nick developed a keen interest in learning about the evolution and behaviour of the Earth. This has led him to further his studies by undertaking a research degree working on the acquisition and analysis of new multi-beam echosounder data to map the Kroenke Submarine Canyon, located on the slope of the world’s largest igneous province; the Ontong Java Plateau. Nick’s honours thesis will use the data collected on this expedition to determine the physical characteristics of the submarine canyon system that will provide a better understanding of the canyon’s currently unknown origin and evolution.
