Nadia Cerino is a Researcher at the Argentine Naval Prefecture of the chemical Laboratory of the Scientific Forensic Department, (CIPE) where she specializes in nationwide water analysis for effluent contamination. Previously, she served as Chief Scientist aboard the Oceanographic Vessel Bernardo Houssay of the same institution. Additionally, she works as a professor at two universities in the country.

Her research focuses on the taxonomy and distribution of deep-sea corals (Cnidaria: Anthozoa: Primnoidae) in the South Atlantic Ocean. She has participated in numerous oceanographic campaigns with various national institutes, contributing to the understanding of benthic communities.

Nadia holds a degree in Biological Sciences from CAECE University and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Marine Biology. With experience in two prior expeditions of the Talud Continental to study the Mar del Plata Submarine Canyon, this third campaign represents a key advancement in her research. Her work is highly relevant, as the Primnoidae family—one of the most abundant in coral garden formation—plays a crucial role in marine ecosystems classified as vulnerable.
