
Mascimiliano de los Santos Maly, called Maxi by his friends, is a geophysicist graduated in 2012 in the Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics, and Atmospheric Sciences (IAG) of the University of São Paulo (USP). After one year dedicated to near-surface Applied Geophysics he focused on marine environments and got his
M.Sc. on Geological and Geophysical Oceanography in 2017 in the Oceanographic Institute of the University of São Paulo. Then, in 2024 he obtained his Ph.D. on Geological and Geophysical Oceanography in the same institute. Since 2013 he has been working mainly with acoustics methods of geophysical exploration in shallow waters and collaborated in research projects involving polymetallic crusts, habitats, sedimentology, and marine morphology, located in the continental shelf, slope and seamounts.
