Mark Allen has worked as a Technical Officer in the Fish section of the Western Australian Museum since 2015 where his primary role is the maintenance and management of the Museum’s fish collection. Prior to this, he worked as a Research Assistant with the Freshwater Fish Group and Fish Health Unit at Murdoch University in Perth. His PhD on the impacts of anthropogenic stressors on fish migration in southwest Western Australia was completed at Murdoch University in 2016. Mark’s research interests include the biology, ecology and taxonomy of freshwater and marine fishes of the Indo-Pacific, with a focus on the Australia-New Guinea region. He has worked on many expeditions in numerous countries throughout his career in a range of different aquatic habitats. The Cape Range Canyon cruise aboard R/V Falkor will be his first experience of the deep sea environment.
