Maria Cristina Figueroa is a Marine Geochemist and Mendenhall Postdoctoral Fellow at the USGS Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center. She holds a Ph.D. in Geochemistry from the University of California, Riverside, and a B.S. in Geology from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez. Her research interests revolve around understanding the complexities of redox processes that shape iron sulfides and trace metal enrichments in marine sediments. Maria is also interested in developing Machine Learning techniques to aid in the identification and comprehension of marine mineral deposits.
