
Lucía Frones is a Master’s student in Biological Sciences (PEDECIBA) in the Genética Evolutiva section of the Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad de la República (UdelaR), researcher at the Laboratorio de Mamíferos Marinos of the Museo Nacional de Historia Natural, Uruguay and professor at the Instituto de Ciencias Oceánicas, UdelaR. Her research has focused on the trophic ecology and genetics of cetaceans. She is currently a fellow of the Agencia Nacional de Investigación e Innovación (ANII) and is carrying out her master’s project on the false killer whale (Pseudorca crassidens), using isotopic analyses and population genetics of specimens from Uruguay and southern Brazil. Lucía also serves as an on-board observer and has experience as a marine wildlife observer on both commercial and research fishing vessels. On-board the Falkor (too), she will be conducting marine wildlife surveys and assisting with sediment and water sampling.
