She holds a PhD in Biological Oceanography from the University of São Paulo (Brazil), a MSc in Biological Oceanography from the same institution and a BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of the Republic. She has three post-doctorates in the area of Geological Oceanography. Her research focuses on geological oceanography, benthic foraminifera and sedimentology, with special emphasis on the use of multiproxy approaches to reconstruct environmental and climatic changes in continental margin environments. She has participated in numerous oceanographic campaigns in the southwest Atlantic, contributing to the understanding of sediment dynamics, seafloor habitats and the impact of oceanographic processes on the seafloor.
