Dr. Jason R. Graff is an Associate Professor in the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology at Oregon State University.  His current roles include positions within the NASA PACE (Plankton Aerosol Cloud ocean Ecosystem) Science Team, NASA PACE Validation Science Team and the Biological Global Ocean Ship-based Hydrographic Investigations Program (Bio-GO-SHIP).  Dr. Graff’s research spans from cell-cell interactions to global scale processes that impact critical components of the marine carbon cycle.  His work is primarily focused on surface ocean planktonic systems which directly interact with Earth’s atmosphere and fuel deeper ocean ecosystems.  He has been awarded two NASA Group Achievement Awards for his work with NASA’s Earth Venture Suborbital mission the North Atlantic Aerosols and Marine Ecosystems Study and the NASA Export Processes in the Ocean from RemoTe Sensing (EXPORTS) field campaigns, and most recently was given the 2024 National Oceanographic Partnership Program’s Excellence in Partnering Award for his efforts with Bio-GO-SHIP.  Dr. Graff earned a B.S. from the University of Illinois (Advertising) and the University of Washington (Oceanography), and a Ph.D. from The Graduate School of Oceanography at the University of Rhode Island.
