Haley Ha is the Artist-at Sea-Manager and has over 15 years of experience in exhibitions, art direction, curatorial research, and public art programs in art institutions in Asia, Europe, and the U.S. She has a Master in Arts from Goldsmith College, UK with a degree in Cultural Industry and Art Theory, and a Bachelor of Fine Art in Media Arts from Cornish College of Arts, US. Prior to joining Schmidt Ocean Institute, she directed and curated exhibitions at the Sunday Kitchen, an independent art space focusing on ecology, care, and diaspora. As Art Director, she led projects with a team in Jeju, South Korea, for a large-scale public art program for a Jeju Biennale that channeled the ecology of the island and the ocean, resonating with local legend and sea-influenced arts communities.

Haley is also an arts writer and editor, and her work has been published in local and international arts and cultural organizations, including artist interviews and exhibition catalogs at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, South Korea, Seattle Art Museum, US, and local Seattle newspapers.

Haley works closely with the artists to plan their participation in an expedition, cultivate partnerships with new and existing arts organizations, oversee the Artist-at-Sea Collection, and create exhibitions at various science and arts venues, including Art Basel Paris and the AGU Conference 2024.
