Guido Pastorino is a marine biologist from Argentina, with a long-standing passion for the taxonomy of marine mollusks from his country. He earned his Licenciatura in Biology and Doctorado in Natural Sciences at the Facultad de Ciencias Naturales y Museo, Universidad Nacional de La Plata, where he first began studying marine invertebrates. Throughout his career, he has advanced through all research levels at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) and today serves as a Principal Investigator.
Guido has led and continues to lead several research projects, supervising postdoctoral fellows, doctoral candidates, and early-career researchers. For two decades, he was responsible for the SEM Lab at the Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales “Bernardino Rivadavia”, where he developed his entire research career. He currently teaches as a Full Professor of Invertebrate Zoology at Universidad CAECE. He has published over 100 scientific papers and presentations, focusing on the biodiversity, taxonomy, and reproductive biology of marine mollusks. Guido has also served as chief scientist on three expeditions to the Argentine continental slope, helping to pioneer deep-sea exploration in his country. He looks forward to continuing to explore the rich and still little-known marine life of the southwestern Atlantic.
