I started my research at the LigninLab at the University of Sâo Paulo, focusing on genes that could be involved in the lignification process in grasses. We also worked on selecting sugarcane varieties that produce bioplastic precursors. After spending time during an internship working on the conservation of sea turtles at Project TAMAR, I discovered my deep interest in marine ecosystems. Currently, I’m a Master’s student at LAMP (Deep Sea Lab) under the supervision of Prof. Paulo Y. G. Sumida at the Oceanographic Institute of the University of São Paulo. Our goals are to determine more accurately the feeding habits of deep-sea wood-boring bivalves (family Xylophagaidae) using both stable isotope geochemistry and molecular analyses.
