Cristina Damborenea is a research biologist with extensive experience in the taxonomy and biology of free-living Platyhelminthes. She is a Principal Researcher at Argentina’s National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), at Museo de La Plata and a Full Professor of Invertebrate Zoology I at the Facultad de Ciencias Naturales y Museo de la Universidad de La Plata.  

Throughout her scientific career, Cristina has led numerous research projects focused on the taxonomy of turbellarians and has actively participated in international collaborations. She has authored over 100 scientific publications, mainly on Turbellaria taxonomy, and has mentored many students, research fellows, and early-career scientists. 

Her fieldwork has taken her to a wide range of environments in pursuit of turbellarian diversity, including participation in oceanographic expeditions along the Argentine continental shelf. In addition to her research, Cristina has played a key role in the digitization of biological collections at the Museo de La Plata, where she currently serves as the coordinator of this initiative.

Cristina studied Biology, earned her PhD, and trained as both a researcher and educator at the National University of La Plata.
