Amelia Travers is a Masters student with the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies in Hobart, Australia. She has a Bachelor of Science with Honours from the University of Queensland in the field of Geography and has used her Masters as an opportunity to gain experience in Marine Biology and Oceanography. During this voyage, Amelia will be part of the team mapping the Ontong Java Plateau and will use a range of geophysical data to improve understanding of the region. Amelia has recently worked on the R/V Helmer Hanssen in waters around Svalbard in the Arctic, and on the R/V Southern Surveyor off the South Eastern coast of Australia. In her spare time, Amelia is passionate about science communication and writing about what research is being undertaken on the ship.
