I am 23 years old and from Connecticut. In May of 2026, I achieved my Bachelor of Science in marine biology from Rutgers University. During my time at Rutgers, I met many amazing people in the field of marine sciences. It was there that I got exposed to all of the disciplines of marine science. It broadened my horizons and increased my love for the ocean and everything about it. At Rutgers, I spent a lot of time in the classroom but also in the lab. I assisted in Dr. Grace Sabas’ lab and her work on ecology, specifically the lower trophic chain zooplankton. I spent many hours looking under a microscope, counting zooplankton and identifying their species. Through my experience in the lab and in the field conducting oceanographic sampling and zooplankton net tows. I have always felt a strong passion for the ocean as a child, and I am beyond excited now to participate in my first research cruise and be a part of the science that helps uncover the mysteries of the ocean.
