Lieutenant Commander Joshua Arhin Dennis is a dedicated hydrographic surveyor, geomatics engineer, and naval officer with professional experience spanning hydrography, geospatial science, maritime security, and engineering surveying. Currently serving as Acting Commanding Officer of GNS DENSU, Hydrographic Surveyor and Geospatial Information Systems Officer for the Ghana Navy Hydrographic Unit. He has supported hydrographic survey operations, overseen geospatial information management, and supported navigational safety initiatives within Ghana’s maritime domain. His work combines technical precision with operational leadership, reflecting a strong commitment to advancing safe and sustainable ocean governance.
Joshua holds an MSc in Geospatial Science (Hydrographic Surveying) with Distinction and an IHO Category A certification from University College London, alongside an MSc in Geoinformation Science from the University of Ghana. He also gained valuable international experience as an Intern Hydrographer with the Port of London Authority, where he contributed to hydrographic surveys and bathymetric data processing along the River Thames.
Passionate about continuous learning and collaboration, Joshua is particularly interested in the application of hydrographic surveying, geospatial intelligence, marine spatial planning, and innovative surveying technologies to maritime operations. He approaches every assignment with professionalism, adaptability, and a strong desire to contribute meaningfully while learning from multidisciplinary teams and scientific communities. Beyond his professional responsibilities, Joshua is a devoted family man who is married and a proud father to a son. He enjoys reading, swimming, chess, and outdoor activities, and values teamwork, discipline, and service both at sea and at home.
