Bhavyaa is a researcher at Rutgers University, where she specializes in the intersection of marine biology and engineering. Her current work focuses on developing specialized instrumentation to bridge critical gaps in the study of marine microbial chemotaxis, exploring how microscopic organisms navigate their environments. She earned her B.Sc. in Microbiology from the University of Delhi before immigrating to the United States. Her professional background spans clinical hospital settings and academic laboratories, where she investigated the genetics and cell biology of various pathogens. As a skilled research technician, she has gained extensive wet-lab expertise and even spearheaded the complex logistics of relocating a laboratory from the East Coast to the West Coast. A transformative first encounter with the ocean five years ago changed the course of her career. Today, she combines her rigorous microbiology background with a passion for oceanography to advance our understanding of microbial life.
