Dhara Azevedo holds a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from the Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (UFES), Brazil, and is currently a master’s student in the Grupo de Ecologia Bêntica at the Oceanography and Ecology Department at the same university. Her work focuses on monitoring benthic communities to identify ecological patterns across spatial and temporal scales through the Long-Term Ecological Research Program – Habitats Costeiros do Espírito Santo (PELD – HCES).

Her expertise includes the taxonomy and ecological analysis of benthic macrofauna, with a particular emphasis on the association between macroalgal assemblages and their associated fauna in intertidal reefs. By investigating these complex interactions, her work contributes to a deeper understanding of coastal habitat dynamics and biodiversity.

During her master’s studies, she is expanding her research into deep-sea ecosystems, exploring benthic communities across different bathymetric ranges within the Amazon Canyon, and analyzing their relationships with environmental variables to uncover the drivers of deep-sea biodiversity in the region.
