André R. Rodrigues is an associate researcher at the Marine Geosciences Laboratory (LaboGeo), Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), Brazil. He is a biologist with a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences (2000), an M.Sc. (2003), and a Ph.D. (2008) in Oceanography (Biological Oceanography).A specialist in Marine Micropaleontology, Dr. Rodrigues uses benthic foraminifera as proxies for environmental change, investigating their relationships with environmental variables and their value as ecological indicators across diverse marine ecosystems. His research encompasses characterization of foraminiferal assemblages from the southwestern South Atlantic continental shelf and the Antarctic Ocean, applying both classical micropaleontological and molecular biology techniques. Dr. Rodrigues works with marine sediment cores from Brazilian basins—particularly Pelotas and Espírito Santo—to reconstruct Quaternary (Holocene and Pleistocene) environmental history.A significant part of his work focuses on paleoenvironmental evolution and relative sea-level changes in reef systems using benthic foraminiferal records. He has extensive field experience, having participated in multiple scientific expeditions, including cruises along the southeastern Brazilian coast (R/V Prof. W. Besnard), in Antarctica (R/V Ary Rongel), on the Rio Grande Rise (R/V Marion Dufresne II), and off the Amazon River mouth (R/V Vital de Oliveira).
