Samantha is an honours student and officer at the University of Western Australia (UWA) with extensive experience in data administration and analysis. She completed her undergraduate degree in marine biology at UWA in 2012 and recently re-joined the field, pursuing a lifelong passion for marine invertebrate ecology. As a member of the Hemmi Lab, she is currently researching the visual systems of hyperiid amphipods and their relationship to hyperiid ecology, and works to support the midwater research community by contributing her technical expertise to the Ocean Shot program. On board Falkor (too) she will be managing and curating the data obtained from laboratory activities and cataloguing specimens, as well as furthering research related to her thesis. This will be her first research cruise, so she is excited to contribute to our understanding of the world’s oceans.
