I am a PhD student at Tohoku University (Graduate School of Agricultural Science) in Sendai, Japan, working in the International Marine Science Lab (Ames Lab). My research focuses on venom biology and multi-omics approaches to better understand and detect box jellyfish, including developing environmental DNA (eDNA)–based early warning tools. During the OceanShot 2026 Falkor (too) cruise off Brazil, I will contribute to assembling mitochondrial and nuclear genome references and generating a midwater animal reference library for molecular identification.
