Bernarda Cornejo is an Ecuadorian filmmaker, cinematographer, photographer, animator, and creative producer. She studied Media Arts at Emily Carr University (Canada), where her short film Aguacero premiered at the Ottawa International Animation Festival. For almost eight years, she has also worked as a fixer for international documentary productions, including projects for BBC and ZDF, and has facilitated community stop-motion workshops with Equis Feminist Film Festival, IOM, UNHCR, among others. As a cinematographer, she worked on the documentary short film Medanit (DOK Leipzig 2015) and the feature documentary Among Us Women (DOK Leipzig 2021), both filmed in Ethiopia, with the latter earning her the Best Cinematography Award at the Mumbai International Film Festival in 2022. In the same year, she was selected for the Berlinale Talents program. She was the creative producer of MAMA, which premiered at Hot Docs 2025 and won Best Impact Film at Sunny Side of Doc. She is currently filming Yawar Shunko and co-producing Like Flame Lit in a Dark Night.
