Rachel is a PhD student in Dr. Anela Choy’s lab at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego. Her thesis implements a variety of biochemical tracers (e.g., mercury concentrations and carbon, nitrogen, and mercury stable isotopes) to examine the environmental and ecological drivers of mercury bioaccumulation in deep pelagic organisms of the North Pacific. During her time in the Choy Lab, Rachel has participated in more than five research cruises sampling midwater communities using net systems.
