Ian Hughes is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology at Harvard University. His research interests focus on the physiology and evolution of animal-microbe symbioses, with an emphasis on mollusks. He particularly enjoys developing and testing new technology and incubation systems for studying animals and microbes in marine environments.
When he’s not in the ship’s lab or control room aboard the Falkor (too), Ian enjoys fishing off the stern (when permitted), catching up on papers, and pretending to power the ship while working out on the rowing machine on deck.
