Graziella Bozzano is a senior marine geologist at the Argentine Hydrographic Service (SHN) of the Argentine Navy and an associate researcher at the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET), Buenos Aires. Her interests focus on the understanding of sedimentary processes in deep marine environments, with particular emphasis on the submarine canyon systems and the contourite depositional system that develop in the Argentine continental margin. She is passionate about inter- and multidisciplinary research in marine sciences and coordinates the interdisciplinary group GeoMargen for geological and geophysical studies of the Argentine Margin at the SHN.
Graziella holds a degree in Geology from the University of Genova (Italy) and a PhD in Geology from the University of Barcelona (Spain). In 2007, she moved to Argentina to study the unexplored southwest Atlantic. Since then, she has collaborated with several European and Argentine institutions and participated in almost 20 research cruises. She joined the ‘Underwater Oases of the Mar del Plata Canyon’ cruise aboard the Falkor (too) this year, and is co-leading the ‘A Tale of Two Submarine Canyons’ expedition. The aim is to gather valuable data and gain a better understanding of the relationship between submarine topography and ocean dynamics.
