Lucía Carolina Kahl is currently an Assistant Researcher at the Servicio de Hidrografía Naval (SHN, Ministry of Defense, Argentina) and a Teaching Assistant at the University of Buenos Aires (FCEN, UBA). Her primary expertise lies in oceanography, with a focus on carbon dynamics, ocean acidification, CO₂ fluxes, and carbonate chemistry in the Southwestern Atlantic. She also specializes in the application of biogeochemical sensors and has experience in oceanographic cruises, including the use of CTD instruments, discrete water sampling, and the measurement of carbonate system parameters and salinity.
She has contributed to several national and international projects. She is a co-author of peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and technical reports, and actively engages in student mentoring and science-policy dialogue. Her work promotes sustainable marine management and a deeper understanding of ocean-climate interactions.
She received her Ph.D. in Atmospheric and Ocean Sciences (2018) and her Licentiate in Oceanographic Sciences (2013) from the University of Buenos Aires. In the upcoming “A Tale of Two Submarine Canyons” expedition aboard the R/V Falkor (too), she will work on CTD data collection and seawater salinity and pH measurements.
