
Rodrigo Torres is a Brazilian oceanographer and maritime archaeologist, who has dedicated the last 25 years to research and teach in the fields of maritime and nautical archaeology, scientific diving and underwater mapping. Throughout his academic and professional career, Rodrigo has participated in or led scientific projects focused on underwater cultural heritage in the Americas, the Caribbean, Europe, and Africa. He currently works as an Adjunct professor in Uruguay, at the Centro Universitario Regional del Este of the Universidad de la República, where he coordinates the Laboratory for Underwater Archaeology and Conservation (CIPAC-CURE). Rodrigo is also an active researcher at the National Agency for Research and Innovation (SNI Level I) and a research professor at the Postgrad Program for the Development of Basic Sciences, Geosciences area. Since 2018, he has represented the University of the Republic at the UNESCO UniTwin Network for Underwater Archaeology (Associate member). He has experience in the fields of archaeology and applied oceanography, primarily in the following areas: underwater cultural heritage, geoarchaeology, marine remote sensing, photogrammetry and archaeological conservation.
