Pablo Limongi Pérez is a marine scientist specializing in benthic habitat mapping. Based in Uruguay, he has worked as a researcher and teacher at the Universidad de la República (UDELAR), and has served as an environmental consultant in both public and private sectors. He is also an experienced professional lifeguard with a longstanding commitment to environmental education and outreach.
His research focuses on the spatial characterization of marine benthic ecosystems, including the bioregionalization of Uruguay’s continental shelf and slope in data-poor contexts. He has led and collaborated on projects related to deep-sea biodiversity, benthic macroinvertebrate communities, and the identification of Vulnerable Marine Ecosystems (VMEs), contributing to national strategies for marine spatial planning and conservation.
Limongi’s work has resulted in several peer-reviewed publications and technical reports, including national diagnostics on marine microplastic pollution. He is member of the CINCYTEMA network. His Master’s degree in Geosciences (PEDECIBA) was awarded with distinction, following his B.Sc. in Biological Sciences, both from Universidad de la República.
