Dr. Carranza’s research spans diverse areas, including marine biodiversity, benthic ecology, and the conservation of mollusks. His comprehensive research output includes over 150 scientific contributions, with numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals. 

He earned his Doctorate and Master’s in Ecology from PEDECIBA and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. His professional journey includes acting as a consultant for international organizations such as FAO and CEPAL, as well as many national institutions. Dr. Carranza has been pivotal in projects involving the conservation of bivalve mollusks across South America and has contributed to the scientific understanding of benthic communities and their response to environmental change.  He has also served as the President of the Asociación Latinoamericana de Malacología and as the organizer for multiple Congresses on Malacology.

In addition to his research, Dr. Carranza has held editorial roles for leading ecological journals and has participated in various workshops and symposia, addressing global and regional ecological challenges. His academic and professional experiences have made several contributions to both local and international ecological and environmental policies.
