Dr. Daniel Lauretta has been a researcher at CONICET since 2016, working at the Argentine Museum of Natural Sciences (Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina). His research interests have always focused on the diversity, taxonomy, distribution, and reproductive biology of benthic cnidarians. He began with shallow-water sea anemones and later expanded his work to include deep-sea fauna, such as cold-water corals. He is involved in international initiatives, including the International Association for Biological Oceanography (IABO) and the G20 initiative, the Coral Research & Development Accelerator Platform (CORDAP). Daniel received his Lic. and Ph.D. from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2007 and 2012, respectively. This will be his fourth deep-sea expedition, and his first aboard the Falkor (Too), where he will serve as Chief Scientist.
