
Dr. Emiliano Ocampo is an Associate Researcher at the Instituto de Investigaciones Marinas y Costeras (IIMyC, UNMDP-CONICET) and Associate Professor of Embryology and Genetics at the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Mar del Plata (UNMDP). His main research interest lies in the evolution of invertebrates and their capacity to respond to environmental stressors. He primarily focuses on decapod crustaceans, which, with their remarkable diversity of forms and adaptations, serve as excellent models for studying evolutionary, physiological, and life-history processes. Dr. Ocampo obtained his undergraduate degree from the National University of Misiones, and completed his PhD through a joint program between UNMDP and the University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil. He later conducted postdoctoral research at both UNMDP and Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany. He has been awarded numerous national and international research fellowships and is an active member of international scientific networks, including LAOCA (Latin American Ocean Acidification Network). He actively collaborates with various research groups, supervises doctoral students, and enjoys participating in scientific and science communication events.
