Renata is a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and is currently a CONICET postdoctoral researcher at the Laboratorio de Ecosistemas Marinos (LEMar) of the Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales “Bernardino Rivadavia” (MACN-CONICET) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her research focuses on the morphological, reproductive, and genetic characterization of crinoids (Echinodermata: Crinoidea: Comatulida) from the genera Isometra and Notocrinus, from the Southwestern Atlantic and the Argentine Antarctic Sector, integrating morphological, reproductive, and molecular data. She applies techniques such as microphotography, scanning electron microscopy, and molecular tools.

In 2019, Renata participated in an oceanographic campaign aboard the ARA Austral (CONICET) to the Mar del Plata Submarine Canyon, assisting in the identification of benthic invertebrates. She has also completed research stays at biological collections in Chile, Germany, Denmark and France.

Renata has received several grants and awards, including the PADI Foundation Grant, DSBS Participation Support Awards, AMNH Lerner-Gray Award, AUIP Fellowship, IDEA WILD grant, and MACN Research Fellows Award. This will be her second deep-sea research cruise, and Renata is excited to continue exploring the Argentine Continental Slope, an environment she has been studying for the past eight years.
