Tremaine Bowman is a marine ecologist from Trinidad and Tobago. She obtained her PhD from the University of the West Indies. Her thesis focused on the composition, distribution, and ecology of a brackish water fish assemblage on the south coast of Jamaica. She is currently the Scientific Project Manager for Seafields Solutions Limited, a company focused on the valorization of Sargassum seaweed towards marine Carbon Dioxide Removal. She is also the founder of the Caribbean Marine Science Collective, which aims to build capacity for marine science and research initiatives in the Caribbean with a particular focus on the deep-sea. She is a deep-sea enthusiast and is committed to advocating for more deep-sea research in the Caribbean. Particularly, she is interested in seeing more ecological exploration happening in Caribbean EEZs at depths deeper than 1500m. She hopes that data and science will be the guide towards policy development and decision-making in the Caribbean region.
