Allison Fong is a highly experienced field-going oceanographer and sea ice ecologist with more than 15 years of work experience and > 500 days at sea. Her research on the Perpetual Planet Southern Ocean Expedition focuses on the effects of climate change and shifting sea-ice landscapes on the primary productivity of the polar microbes that underpin the Southern Ocean’s food web. Fong has also served as the lead co-coordinator of Team Ecosystem of the international Arctic project, MOSAiC (Multidisciplinary drifting Observatory for the Study of Arctic Climate, www.mosaic-expedition.org). Beyond designing and implementing the complex scientific aspects of the MOSAiC Ecosystem work program, Fong has advanced skills and significant experience in leadership and management. Fong will appear alongside Will Smith in the upcoming National Geographic documentary series Pole to Pole on Disney+.
