Fernanda Sofía Orrego Acuña has been a marine biologist from the University of Valparaíso, Chile since 2022. She currently works in the ichthyology and biophysical interactions laboratory, where she works with geometric morphometry, mainly with oceanic fish larvae, with the intention of knowing their morphology and their interaction with oceanographic conditions. In addition, she works on taxonomy for the identification of ichthyoplankton.

She has participated in oceanographic cruises, in various areas, Juan Fernández, Patagonia and southern channels in Chile, working with zooplankton, but this is the first of this magnitude, so she is extremely excited about this opportunity and the knowledge that will be obtained from it.
