Dr. Aparna Banerjee works as an academic-researcher at the Institute of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Engineering of the Universidad Autónoma de Chile, Talca. She is also the principal investigator of prestigious national projects such as Fondecyt Regular of ANID and INACH Regular of the Chilean Antarctic Institute.
She is the author/co-author/communicator of more than 60 publications in different renowned internationally indexed journals. She is also a reviewer for several academic journals and a member of different societies such as the Microbiology Society of Chile, the Indian Science Congress Association, India’s Bioinformatics Society, and more.
She has received the prestigious Young Scientist award from the Indian Science Congress Association, granted by the Government of India, among several other national and international recognitions. She has participated twice in expeditions to Antarctica. Dr. Banerjee’s main research interests include extremophile microbiology, geothermal environments, bacterial polysaccharides, microbial biotechnology, and bioinformatics.
