Natalie Summers recently completed a Master’s at the University of Hawaii. Her research focuses on the biogeography of deep sea octocorals in the Pacific Ocean focussing on the Upper Bathyal (200-1000m deep). She is interested in using octocoral distributions to test how well proposed biogeographical provinces apply to the Upper Bathyal.

Previously, she received a B.S. in Biology from the University of Reunion Island and a Master’s of Applied science for James Cook University in Marine Biology. She then joined the Voluntary Marine Conservation Area team at Reef Conservation in 2012 to work on a Voluntary Marine Conservation Areas. In 2016 she entered the marine biology graduate program at the University of Hawaii to work of the biogeography of deep sea octocorals.
