SOI Launches Updated Ship-to-Shore Program
A new online sign-up system or SOI’s Ship-to-Shore program has been launched. Schools, museums, aquariums, senior facilities, and community groups can request either small group connections or register for a Virtual Assembly. The Ship-to-Shore connection is a free immersive learning experience that has been reformatted for the new vessel. We like to think of a connection as a “virtual field trip,” where learners are taken on a tour of R/V Falkor (too)’s main science deck and directly engage with scientists and crew.
SOI currently offers Ship-to-Shore connections in Spanish and English, with the potential to conduct connections in other languages depending on the science team. Experts introduce the current expedition, take you on a tour of our lab spaces, hangar, aft deck, and mission control room, and wrap up with questions. Groups located in the region of the world the ship is operating in are given priority for small-group connections.
