Tinkara Tinta is a scientific associate at the Marine Biology Station Piran, National Institute of Biology, Slovenia. Tinkara has interdisciplinary background with BSc in biochemistry (Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia) and PhD in environmental sciences (University of Nova Gorica, Slovenia). She is a marine microbial ecologist exploring how different perturbations in organic and inorganic matter regimes affect microbial community and thus structure and functioning of marine ecosystems. On the cruise she will be using the virus-dilution approach in combination with pressure vessels to measure virus production rates at in situ conditions in collaboration with Christian Winter from University of Vienna.
