Rachel Edwards is a MS Coastal and Marine System Science student at Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi and a graduate research assistant at Harte Research Institute’s Coastal and Marine Geospatial Lab. She graduated with a BA in 2014 from the University of North Carolina with highest honors in Geography with a concentration in GIS and a minor in Marine Science. Her undergraduate research project used GIS to examine the spatial distribution of sea sponges in Florida Bay. Rachel’s thesis addresses sea level rise in Galveston Bay, TX and how public policies may affect its long-term impacts. Outside interests include training and competing in the equestrian sport dressage and volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network.
