Nur Ili Hamizah Mustaffa

Nur Ili Hamizah Mustaffa is a PhD student from Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment (ICBM), University of Oldenburg, Germany. Her research is focus on chemical composition in Sea-surface microlayers (SML) and how it will affect air-sea CO₂ exchange. She received her BSc in Chemistry and MSc in Environmental Science from National University of Malaysia. During this cruise, she will be responsible for the sampling of SML and in-situ data collection using state-of-art Sea Surface Scanner (S3). She also will analyze the concentration of extracellular carbonate anhydrase (zinc-containing enzyme) from SML, which potentially enhance CO₂ exchange rate. Her research was funded by the European Research Council (ERC) project “Air-Sea Gas Exchange; Parameterization of the Sea-surface microlayer Effect (PassMe)”.
