Kiminori Shitashima is a professor of School of Marine Resources and Environment at Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology in Japan from 2016. His background is marine geochemistry, and he has been developing in-situ chemical sensors (pH/pCO2/ORP sensor, gamma ray sensor, trace metal sensor, etc) and applying them for various oceanographic researches.
Kiminori gained his Ph.D. degree in chemical oceanography from Hiroshima University in 1989. He was postdoctoral scholar at Ocean Research Institute, the University of Tokyo for one and half years (1989-1990). He had worked at Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry from 1990, and at International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research at Kyushu University from 2011 as an Associate Professor.
