Jessica brings a diverse skill set and deep-sea sampling experience to the expedition team. With a Master of Science in Biological Oceanography from the Geomar Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel in Germany, her research focuses on microbial communities in extreme environments.
Previously, Jessica contributed to research cruises, data analysis, and publications as a Research Assistant at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute. Her oceanographic fieldwork, spanning diverse marine environments from the North Pacific to the Baltic Sea, has shaped her expertise in data collection, project coordination, and deep-sea research. On this expedition, Jessica is assisting Dr. Lauren Seyler with cruise preparations, as well as sampling aboard Falkor (Too).
Beyond her professional pursuits, Jessica is on a traveling gap year aboard her sailboat in Mexico, supporting local nonprofit organizations in research and conservation initiatives. Through her work, Jessica aims to deepen our understanding of marine ecosystems and inspire advocacy for ocean conservation, sharing her love for the sea and her passion for science with people worldwide.
