Annalena Lochte boards the R/V Falkor as a research volunteer. In July 2014 she completed her Palaeobiology studies at Uppsala University, Sweden and obtained her Master of Science. Her research interests revolve around the reconstruction of Paleoclimate and Paleoceanography using Microfossils. In her Master’s Thesis Annalena investigated the link between coccolith thickness and Ocean Acidification. During her studies in Sweden she took exchange courses at the University Centre in Svalbard to study the effect of Climate Change on Arctic Ecosystems. On a research cruise around Svalbard she learned to handle sampling gear and to practise species identification. Since September 2014, Annalena has travelled through Australia on a Working Holiday Visa.
