Adrian Bodenmann is a senior research assistant at the University of Southampton. His research interests are focussed on visual seafloor mapping. He has co-developed four underwater mapping devices using laser scanning for photographic survey of the bottom of the ocean and developed an algorithm for converting the collected data into three dimensional digital reconstructions. He participated in more than 10 research cruises where the devices were deployed to depths of up to 3000m in the Pacific and the Sea of Japan and spent more than 100 days at sea.

Adrian graduated with a MSc in Microengineering from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland in 2009. During his Masters he spent one semester at the URA laboratory of the University of Tokyo, where he continued his research as a Project Researcher until he joined the University of Southampton in October last year.
